SO HOW DO I LOOK ?

Image
Over the weekend, I just couldn't bear an itching eye that was soo itchy. So I checked into a medical facility here in Accra just to have them examined. This is not the first time it is itching me though but the itchiness has overstayed this time round. Mindful about the age old saying, "the eye is the most important organ on the body" I decided to have them properly examined by a specialist. " Sir, please we are just about closing. Can you give me your details " the nurse said to me politely. Quickly I gave her my details, medical insurance and she started processing me to see the doctor. When I got to the first point of examination before the doctor, the technician conducting the test on me asked, " did you drive here yourself " ? I answered in the affirmative. His next response was "huh" ??. Here I began to feel within myself something was not correct somewhere. Quickly I went down memory lane. As a little boy growing up at Keta,...

LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE THAT ALL MAY SEE

I volunteered on November 25, 2017 to mentor young people desirous of shaping themselves to leading the change they want to see in their communities at BarCamp Sunyani, hash tagged #bcsyi. The program was organized by Ghana Think Foundation, under the able leadership of the pragmatic Ato Ulzen-Appiah and his competent team. Ato is a pacesetter when it comes to the organization of youth programs in this country. He is either behind the scenes coordinating the program or moderating it. In 2015 during ‘’ dum-sor dumsor ‘’ (shedding/rationing of electricity due to inadequate availability of generation capacity), I was invited by Global Shapers, Accra Hub to discuss “Ghana’s Energy Crisis: Is there Light at the End of the Tunnel?”  My good friend John Armah (CE0 Orios Group), another gem, successfully convinced me to confirm participation. Unknown to me, I was going to be surrounded by the likes of Franklin Cudjoe, President of the policy think tank Imani Ghana. Franklin at that ...

HOW DID WE GET HERE AS A COUNTRY?

Image
The truth is, we are all going to die some day but must any one be killed gruesomely this way? Background. Captain Mahama, who was heading a military detachment near Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region, Ghana, met his untimely death last Monday when he was jogging when some residents of the area accused him of being an armed robber and lynched him.I am still in utter shock how we got to this stage as a country.  A country like Ghana where we tout ourselves as peace loving, one people with a common destiny? No human feeling or the need to even cross check/verify a situation better before rushing to pass judgement? The fallen soldier according to his comrades was too gentle a person that he would even not hurt a fly left alone human beings. No wonder, although he had a pistol on him during the time of the incident, he failed to defend himself.  Thomas Hobbes in the Leviathan said human beings are " nasty, brutish and short". And that's what truly we are.It is even...

JUST ONE CHANCE

With the revered Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Ansah -Programs Director/The Producer Super Morning Show @ JoyFm after Etornam's dedication. Efo Kofi as I affectionately call him has being of immerse help to me dating back to my national service days at the Ministry of Information and career wise. I recall my first live in studio radio interview on no less a platform than the Super Morning Show which is part of the Multimedia Group one friday morning co-hosted by then Kojo Oppong Nkrumah now Hon. Deputy Information Minister & Bernard Shaibu now of StarrFm somewhere in 2012. I was timid, apprehensive and was shaking as if someone has literally given me a gun to forcefully shoot myself in the head. But efo Kofi prepared me, we had a small Q & A via email, he cheered me on & encouraged me to keep my answers KISS (keep it short & simple). The d-day came, I appeared on the show and ever since there has been no turning back. Let me place on record that, I am not a shy person a...

HISTORY MADE IN GHANA.

Image
Do you know history was made  on June 25, 2016 right here in Ghana? Mr. Martin Fodor a 47 years old Slovák who works for the World Bank as a Senior Environmental Specialist swam 8.4 kilometers across lake Bosomtwe in a record time of 3 hours 17 seconds . I doubt if the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts is even aware of this great feat which is a feather in our cap to promoting our tourism. You will hardly hear or see in the Ghanaian media landscape things of this nature simply because its not one fouled mouthed politician who is on a name calling spree, therefore its not news worthy. In other jurisdictions, this event would have been a big news which would have been properly documented and showcased to the world to boost foreign & local tourism to Lake Bosomtwe and for that matter Ghana Credit--Kofi Akpabli         ASAK 233

ORIGIN OF THE NAME FUI

Image
Something funny happened to me the other day, when I went to the hospital. After seeing the General Practitioner (GP), she directed me to the laboratory to run some tests. Upon reaching the laboratory, I presented my request form from the GP to the laboratory technician, also a lady. She asked me to take a seat and fold up my long sleeve in preparedness for her drawing my blood. I must confess, I don't fear anything more than syringes. I hate them! So any time I have to do laboratory tests or take an injection, I normally will cover my face with my hand: and that’s exactly what I did in readiness for her ordeal. Then I heard a scream from the laboratory technician '' Ah! Young man, please, is your middle name ''Fui'' a Chinese name?'' No, I replied with laughter and with my hand still covering my face. This is not the first time someone is referring to my name 'Fui' as a Chinese name or the short form of Kafui, et al. As we are about celeb...

GOD SAVE HER GHANA---MY TAKE ON THE ANAS VIDEO.

Image
So, I had the chance courtesy my good friend  Giovani Elolo Caleb  of YFM & eTV to watch the premiere of Anas Aremeyaw documentary on corruption in Ghana’s judiciary which we had all been anxiously waiting for. The subject of corruption in the judiciary has always been held as a perception and anytime anyone alleged there was corruption, then he or she was hounded to provide evidence as the Latin maxim 'semper necessitas probandi  incumbit ei qui agit' implies' he who asserts must prove'. It was neck-wrecking, revealing and shocking for me see how this cancer of corruption has eaten deep into the judiciary to the extent that as some judges prefer mere Burkina Faso goats to justice delivery. It is absolutely pathetic how we all appear so clean and innocent in society but inwardly very dirty and lacking any conscience for the public good. The most pathetic part for me in the exposé was the scene where a female judge whose name I readily can’t recall now, initial...
