SO HOW DO I LOOK ?

Over the weekend, I just couldn't bear an itching eye that was soo itchy. So I checked into a medical facility here in Accra just to have them examined. This is not the first time it is itching me though but the itchiness has overstayed this time round. Mindful about the age old saying, "the eye is the most important organ on the body" I decided to have them properly examined by a specialist. " Sir, please we are just about closing. Can you give me your details " the nurse said to me politely. Quickly I gave her my details, medical insurance and she started processing me to see the doctor. When I got to the first point of examination before the doctor, the technician conducting the test on me asked, " did you drive here yourself " ? I answered in the affirmative. His next response was "huh" ??. Here I began to feel within myself something was not correct somewhere. Quickly I went down memory lane. As a little boy growing up at Keta, I found it extremely hard walking through dark alleys and places. If I do not have an escort to guide me, I would not run an errand at night for my parents where there is no visibilty. I am not talking about the Ghana Police Visibility patrols ooo. Although I was sent to the hospital those days to have my eyes checked, everything was OK/ normal according to the doctors. I was only adviced to eat lots of fruits especially pawpaw and carrot. So, since the first guy who ran the first test on me was not too sure if what he was seeing was true, he took me to run another eye test before I can see the doctor with my results. "L, V, O, D, X" I screamed them all out . When we got to the tinest ones I noticed one of my eyes was a little blurred and I could not properly identify the alphabets correctly. Now, I begin to shiver knowing the obvious, that which I have always dreaded and disliked i.e wearing "gankui" spectacles was completely untenable and unavoidable. After the doctor had finished examining me, he said to me " young man you do not have an eye disease rather you have an allergy in one of your eyes which makes it hard for you to process light. You should be wearing lenses long ago but thank God you are finally here". At this point, I began to analyse how uncomfortable it will be for me to always carry my lenses with me everywhere I go like "MtN" and how my daughter baby K who enjoys playing with my nose, eyes and ears will now see a new toy daddy has bought for her to play with. I rang home to inform madam about the outcome of my eye tests and her response " yen fama Nyame...it is well ". But then she cautioned " please don't bring any old man looking frame home ooo. Let me approve of the frame before you purchase it " My response " yes Ma! " That got me laughing for awhile. Talking about frames, is that how expensive they can be? Ghs300- Ghs3000 upwards. So if by chance you know where I can get very affordable but quality frames to buy in the future please let me in. Meanwhile, if your have not done an eye test before please have them checked ASAP . Just check and be double sure everything is OK with your eyes. And to those I used to tease wearing glasses as having "four eyes" please be nice to me wai.I am now your member. The doctor says my eye will correct after sometime though but please feel free and share your tips and experiences about wearing glasses with me. So how do you see my new look?
