JUST ONE CHANCE
With the revered Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Ansah -Programs Director/The Producer Super Morning Show @ JoyFm after Etornam's dedication.
Efo Kofi as I affectionately call him has being of immerse help to me dating back to my national service days at the Ministry of Information and career wise.
I recall my first live in studio radio interview on no less a platform than the Super Morning Show which is part of the Multimedia Group one friday morning co-hosted by then Kojo Oppong Nkrumah now Hon. Deputy Information Minister & Bernard Shaibu now of StarrFm somewhere in 2012.
I was timid, apprehensive and was shaking as if someone has literally given me a gun to forcefully shoot myself in the head. But efo Kofi prepared me, we had a small Q & A via email, he cheered me on & encouraged me to keep my answers KISS (keep it short & simple). The d-day came, I appeared on the show and ever since there has been no turning back.
Let me place on record that, I am not a shy person at all when it comes to talking/granting interviews on the radio. For those who listened keenly to the BBC Network Africa, Focus on Africa & World Have Your Say between 2005 to 2011 , I was a regular contirbutor. But my problem this time round was because the interview was going to be face to face (in studio) and I will be seeing the host(s)/anchor(s) eye ball to eye ball.
Assuming I had avoided that huge platform and the rear opportunity given me , I don't know how I would have turned out in my practice today. Simply because that particular interview opened up many other interviews and opportunities for me.We must dare to be different, ready to make mistakes, learn from them and move on.
Let me hasten to add however that, efo Kofi is a man of few words but does a lot behind the scenes. No wonder his colleagues (Kojo Yamson, Nhyira Addo, George Wiafe et al) at JoyFm have nicknamed him "The Vladimir" just because of his prowess.
Infact he is a man of many talents. @ church he leads the choir sometimes if led by the Holy spirit and sings beautifully like a parrot.
Look it's still mothers day not father's day. Let me reserve the rest for another day.
